What is Nimonic 75?

Nimonic 75 (UNS N06075) is a nickel-chromium alloy with Cr 18–21% and Ti 0.2–0.6%, providing good oxidation resistance to 900°C and moderate creep strength. The simplest of the Nimonic series — essentially a Ni-Cr alloy with minor Ti addition — used where a low-cost, readily available high-temperature alloy is required without the complexity of fully precipitation-hardenable grades. Nimonic 75 fasteners are used in gas turbine exhaust components, industrial furnace hardware, heat treatment jigs and petrochemical furnace tube supports at 700–900°C. Governed by BS 3075 NA14 and AMS 5754.

Chemical Composition

Nimonic 75 fasteners derive their properties from a nickel-chromium base strengthened by titanium and carbon additions. Chromium content of around 19-21% provides excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance, while small titanium and carbon additions promote grain boundary carbide stability, enhancing high-temperature strength. The controlled nickel matrix ensures good ductility and resistance to thermal fatigue, making the alloy suitable for demanding fastening applications under cyclic thermal loading.

These compositional characteristics translate into fasteners offering excellent oxidation resistance up to 1050°C, strong resistance to scaling, and stable mechanical performance at elevated temperatures. The alloy retains adequate tensile and creep strength during prolonged high-temperature exposure, while maintaining good fabricability and weldability. Its corrosion resistance in oxidizing and sulphurous environments, combined with reliable mechanical integrity, makes Nimonic 75 fasteners ideal for gas turbines, furnace components, heat treatment equipment and other high-temperature industrial assemblies requiring long-term dimensional stability and structural reliability.

Applications

Applications for Nimonic 75 Fasteners

Nimonic 75 Fasteners from RealBolt Engineering Industries are specified wherever corrosion resistance, elevated-temperature strength, or chemical media compatibility is critical to fastener performance. Primary industries and end-uses for Nimonic 75 fasteners include heat exchangers, gas turbine components, general high-temperature service.
Nimonic 75 fasteners are used for clamps, casings, exhaust joints and turbine support hardware where oxidation resistance and dimensional stability are required during repeated heat cycles.
The alloy is well suited for furnace fixtures, radiant tube supports, retorts, baskets and high temperature bolting exposed to hot air and scale forming conditions.
Nimonic 75 nuts, studs and bolts are selected for process equipment operating at elevated temperature where stainless steel fasteners may lose strength or oxidize rapidly.
Nimonic 75 Fasteners support aerospace ducting, hot gas path accessories and engine peripheral assemblies requiring nickel alloy performance with reliable fabrication behavior.

Frequently Asked Questions About Nimonic 75 Fasteners

Browse the questions below to get quick, expert answers about Nimonic 75 Fasteners — covering alloy specifications (UNS N06075), applicable standards (BS 3075), temperature ratings, corrosion performance, and how to source certified Nimonic 75 fasteners from RealBolt Engineering Industries.
Nimonic 75 is used for gas turbine exhaust manifold hardware, industrial furnace fixture bolts, heat treatment jig fasteners, chemical plant high-temperature structural bolts at 700–900°C and aerospace nacelle structure attachment hardware where Inconel alloys would be over-engineered.
BS 3075 NA14 (rod, bar), AMS 5754 (bar, sheet), DTD 5012 (aerospace bar). DIN equivalent: 2.4951. EN 10302 covers high-temperature Ni alloys including Nimonic 75. All supplied solution-annealed with EN 10204 3.1 MTC.
Continuous oxidising service to 900°C. For short-term exposure, up to 1000°C. Above 900°C continuous, Inconel 600 or Nimonic 80A is required for adequate strength retention. Nimonic 75 does not benefit from precipitation hardening — all strength is from solid solution + carbides.
Both are Ni-Cr alloys at similar Cr levels (Inconel 600: Cr 14–17%; Nimonic 75: Cr 18–21%). Nimonic 75 has slightly higher Cr giving better oxidation resistance. Inconel 600 has higher Ni (≥72% vs ≥75% similar) and better SCC resistance in alkaline environments. For pure high-temperature oxidation service, Nimonic 75 is comparable at slightly lower cost.
