Nimonic 80A is a nickel-chromium-based superalloy strengthened primarily through additions of titanium, aluminium and carbon, which promote the precipitation of gamma prime (Ni3(Ti,Al)) phases within the austenitic matrix. Chromium content, typically between 18 and 21 percent, provides excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance, while cobalt and iron are maintained at controlled levels to preserve microstructural stability at elevated temperatures. These carefully balanced alloying additions collectively enhance creep resistance, tensile strength and long-term thermal stability, making the composition ideally suited for demanding high-temperature fastener applications.
Fasteners manufactured from Nimonic 80A deliver outstanding mechanical performance under sustained high-temperature loading, retaining strength and dimensional stability where conventional stainless steels would fail. Their superior resistance to oxidation, sulphidation and creep deformation ensures reliable long-term service in gas turbines, aerospace engines, exhaust systems and industrial furnace equipment. The alloy’s excellent fatigue resistance and low relaxation properties further support secure, leak-free joints in critical high-stress environments, confirming its status as a premium fastener material for extreme operating conditions.
Specifications
Nimonic 80A Fasteners deliver high-temperature strength and stable mechanical performance for demanding service conditions. Their specifications typically cover precise dimensions, thread forms, and technical data, with properties defined by tensile, yield, and hardness requirements to support reliable fastening where elevated temperature resistance is essential.
