What are SS 310 / 310S Studs?

Quick Specifications

SS 310 / 310S studs are high-temperature austenitic stainless steel fasteners manufactured from UNS S31000 (310) or UNS S31008 (310S) bar stock, conforming to ASTM A276 or ASTM A479. These studs are engineered for exceptional oxidation resistance and mechanical strength at elevated temperatures up to 1100°C, making them ideal for furnace, heat exchanger, and petrochemical applications.

SS 310S is the low-carbon version of SS 310, offering improved weldability and reduced risk of sensitization during high-temperature service. Both grades provide superior resistance to sulfidation, carburization, and thermal cycling, outperforming standard 304/316 stainless steel in aggressive heat environments.

Technical Data

SS 310 / 310S Studs Dimensions, Sizes & Thread Standards

SS 310 / 310S Studs are available in metric M6–M100 and inch ¼″–4″ as standard. SS 310 / 310S Studs are available in metric sizes M6 to M100 and inch sizes ¼″ to 4″ as standard. Custom lengths, thread pitches, and special configurations are manufactured to order.

Mechanical Properties & Torque Reference

Per DIN 976 (full thread) / DIN 975 (threaded rod) / ASME B16.5 (stud bolts for flanges). Custom cut lengths available in 5mm increments. Inch dimensions per ASME B18.31.2.

Material Chemistry

table.rb{width:100%

SS 310 / 310S Studs are manufactured from an iron-chromium-nickel alloy with chromium (16–26%), nickel (8–28%), and grade-specific molybdenum additions per ASTM and ASTM A193/A194. Chromium content governs the self-healing passive oxide film; molybdenum (2–6%) enhances chloride pitting resistance; and carbon content determines sensitization risk in welded assemblies.
