Product Overview

What are Nimonic 263 Threaded Rods?

Nimonic 263 threaded rods are high-strength, nickel-cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy fasteners manufactured from UNS N07263 bar stock in accordance with ASTM B805. Designed for service in temperatures up to 800°C, these rods offer a unique combination of age-hardenable strength, excellent oxidation resistance, and superior weldability compared to other superalloys.

With a balanced composition of chromium (20%), cobalt (20%), and molybdenum (6%), Nimonic 263 threaded rods are widely specified for gas turbine, petrochemical, and high-temperature bolting applications where creep resistance and structural integrity are critical. All rods are supplied solution annealed and age-hardened for optimal mechanical properties.

Material Chemistry

Nimonic 263 Chemical Composition

Nimonic 263 Threaded Rods are manufactured from a precipitation-hardened nickel-chromium-cobalt superalloy with titanium and aluminium additions per AMS and BS HR specifications. These elements form the gamma-prime (Ni₃Al,Ti) precipitate phase that delivers creep rupture strength above 700°C — a performance level unachievable with standard nickel or stainless alloys.

Why Nimonic 263 Alloy Composition Matters for Threaded Rods

Cr & Co (19–21%) — Oxidation & Creep Resistance
Chromium and cobalt provide Nimonic 263 threaded rods with outstanding oxidation resistance and high-temperature strength, essential for secure bolting in gas turbines and exhaust systems.
Mo (5.6–6.1%) — Solid Solution Strengthening
Molybdenum enhances the alloy’s creep resistance and maintains mechanical integrity at elevated temperatures, making these rods ideal for critical high-heat assemblies.
Ti & Al — Age Hardening
Titanium and aluminium enable precipitation hardening, allowing Nimonic 263 rods to achieve high tensile strength after heat treatment without sacrificing ductility or weldability.

Nimonic 263 Threaded Rods — Frequently Asked Questions

Browse expert answers to common questions about Nimonic 263 Threaded Rods from RealBolt — covering AMS specification, heat treatment, creep rupture data, max service temperature, sizes, and aerospace certification. Contact our technical team directly for project-specific guidance on Nimonic 263 threaded rods selection and pricing.
Nimonic 263 threaded rods are supplied to DIN 975 (full thread), DIN 976 (studs), and ASME B18.31.3 (inch series). Aerospace applications use AMS 5872. Custom thread forms (metric fine, UNC, UNF, BSW) are available on request with short lead times.
Always use a nickel-based anti-seize compound (such as Molykote P-37 or Jet-Lube Pure Nickel) on threads and nut faces. This prevents galling and ensures consistent preload. Avoid copper-based anti-seize to prevent galvanic corrosion with nickel alloys.
Yes – Nimonic 263 is engineered for continuous service up to 800°C, with excellent creep and oxidation resistance. It is the preferred choice for gas turbine, HRSG, and furnace bolting where stainless steel or Inconel 718 are inadequate.
No MOQ for standard sizes (M10-M36) held in stock – single rods can be supplied for urgent needs. Custom diameters or cut lengths typically require a 10 kg minimum. Bulk discounts apply at 25, 100, and 250 rods.
