Super Duplex 2507 fasteners derive their exceptional performance from a carefully balanced chemical composition featuring high chromium (24-26%), nickel (6-8%), molybdenum (3-5%) and controlled nitrogen additions (0.24-0.32%). Chromium provides the foundation for passive film formation and oxidation resistance, while molybdenum significantly enhances resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-rich environments. Nickel stabilises the austenitic phase within the duplex microstructure, ensuring an optimal balance between austenite and ferrite. Nitrogen further strengthens the alloy matrix while improving resistance to localised corrosion attack.
This precise metallurgical balance delivers outstanding engineering benefits, including a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number exceeding 42, making it ideal for aggressive marine, offshore and chemical processing environments. The duplex structure provides superior mechanical strength, roughly double that of standard austenitic stainless steels, allowing for reduced fastener sizing without compromising safety. Excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking, chloride attack and sulphide stress cracking further enhances reliability in critical bolting applications, making Super Duplex 2507 fasteners the preferred choice for demanding subsea, petrochemical and desalination industries.
