Product Overview

What are Nimonic 263 Nuts?

Nimonic 263 nuts are high-strength, nickel-cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy fasteners manufactured from UNS N07263 bar stock conforming to ASTM B805. Designed for service in temperatures up to 800°C, these nuts offer a unique combination of age-hardened strength, oxidation resistance, and ductility. The alloy’s balanced chemistry, with 19-21% chromium and 5.6-6.1% molybdenum, ensures excellent resistance to thermal fatigue and stress corrosion cracking.

Nimonic 263 nuts are widely specified in gas turbine engines, petrochemical reactors, and high-temperature bolted joints where conventional stainless steel or Inconel fasteners are inadequate. All nuts are supplied with full traceability and EN 10204 3.1 certification.

Material Chemistry

Nimonic 263 Chemical Composition

Nimonic 263 Nuts are manufactured from a precipitation-hardened nickel-chromium-cobalt superalloy with titanium and aluminium additions per AMS and BS HR specifications. These elements form the gamma-prime (Ni₃Al,Ti) precipitate phase that delivers creep rupture strength above 700°C — a performance level unachievable with standard nickel or stainless alloys.

Why Nimonic 263 Alloy Composition Matters for Nuts

Cr & Co (19–21%) — Oxidation & Thermal Fatigue Resistance
Chromium and cobalt provide Nimonic 263 nuts with outstanding resistance to oxidation and scaling at temperatures up to 800°C, making them ideal for gas turbine and exhaust flange assemblies.
Mo (5.6–6.1%) — Creep Strength
Molybdenum enhances high-temperature strength and resistance to stress rupture, ensuring nuts maintain preload in cyclic thermal environments.
Ti & Al — Age Hardening
Titanium and aluminium enable precipitation hardening, delivering high strength after heat treatment while retaining ductility for safe assembly and disassembly.

Nimonic 263 hex nuts are available to DIN 934 (metric), ISO 4032, EN 24032, and ASME B18.2.2 (inch hex and heavy hex). Prevailing torque and lock nut types can be supplied to ISO 2320. Custom thread forms (BSW, BSF, Whitworth) are available on request with a typical lead time of 2-3 weeks.
Always use a nickel-based anti-seize compound (such as Molykote P-37 or Jet-Lube Pure Nickel) on threads and nut bearing faces. This prevents galling and ensures consistent preload. Do not use copper-based anti-seize on nickel alloys, as it can cause galvanic corrosion at high temperatures.
Yes – Nimonic 263 nuts are specifically engineered for high-temperature bolted joints in gas turbines, combustors, and exhaust systems. They retain strength and resist oxidation up to 800°C, making them ideal for aerospace and power generation applications.
No formal MOQ for standard metric sizes (M8-M24) held in stock – single pieces can be supplied for urgent maintenance. Custom sizes or inch threads typically require a 5 kg minimum. Price breaks are available at 50, 200, and 500 pieces.
