Product Overview

What are Incoloy 825 Bolts?

Incoloy 825 bolts are high-performance nickel-iron-chromium alloy fasteners manufactured from UNS N08825 bar stock in accordance with ASTM B425. The alloy’s balanced composition, including significant additions of molybdenum (2.5-3.5%), copper (1.5-3.0%), and titanium (0.6-1.2%), provides exceptional resistance to both reducing and oxidizing acids, as well as chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking.

Incoloy 825 bolts are widely specified for critical bolted joints in chemical processing, oil & gas, and pollution control equipment, where resistance to sulfuric and phosphoric acids, seawater, and aggressive chloride environments is essential. The alloy is fully austenitic and maintains mechanical integrity up to 540°C, making it a preferred choice for demanding industrial applications.

Material Chemistry

Incoloy 825 Chemical Composition

Incoloy 825 Bolts are produced from an iron-nickel-chromium alloy with controlled nickel (30–46%), chromium (19–23%), and molybdenum content per ASTM. Nickel and chromium together resist high-temperature oxidation to 1093°C in 800H grades, while molybdenum and copper additions in Incoloy 825 provide sulfuric and phosphoric acid resistance.

Chemical Composition per ASTM B425

ElementComposition (%)
Nickel (Ni)38.0-46.0%
Chromium (Cr)19.5-23.5%
Iron (Fe)22.0% min
Molybdenum (Mo)2.5-3.5%
Copper (Cu)1.5-3.0%
Titanium (Ti)0.6-1.2%
Manganese (Mn)1.0% max

Why Incoloy 825 Alloy Composition Matters for Bolts

Cr (19.5–23.5%) — Oxidation & Acid Resistance
Chromium ensures Incoloy 825 bolts resist oxidizing acids and aqueous corrosion, making them ideal for sulfuric and nitric acid service in chemical plants.
Mo (2.5–3.5%) & Cu (1.5–3.0%) — Reducing Acid Protection
Molybdenum and copper additions provide outstanding resistance to reducing acids, especially sulfuric and phosphoric, and protect against crevice corrosion in chloride environments.
Ti (0.6–1.2%) — Sensitization Resistance
Titanium stabilizes the alloy against intergranular attack after welding, ensuring Incoloy 825 bolts retain full corrosion resistance in the heat-affected zone.
