Product Overview

What are Incoloy 825 Screws?

Incoloy 825 screws are high-performance nickel-iron-chromium alloy fasteners manufactured from UNS N08825 bar stock in accordance with ASTM B425. The alloy’s balanced addition of molybdenum, copper, and titanium provides exceptional resistance to both reducing and oxidizing acids, including sulfuric and phosphoric acid, as well as chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking.

Incoloy 825 screws are widely specified for critical bolted joints in chemical processing, oil & gas, and pollution control equipment where stainless steels fail due to aggressive corrosion. The alloy’s stability up to 540°C and immunity to intergranular attack after welding make it a preferred choice for demanding industrial environments.

Material Chemistry

Incoloy 825 Chemical Composition

Incoloy 825 Screws are produced from an iron-nickel-chromium alloy with controlled nickel (30–46%), chromium (19–23%), and molybdenum content per ASTM. Nickel and chromium together resist high-temperature oxidation to 1093°C in 800H grades, while molybdenum and copper additions in Incoloy 825 provide sulfuric and phosphoric acid resistance.

Chemical Composition per ASTM B425

ElementComposition (%)
Nickel (Ni)38.0-46.0%
Chromium (Cr)19.5-23.5%
Iron (Fe)22.0% min
Molybdenum (Mo)2.5-3.5%
Copper (Cu)1.5-3.0%
Titanium (Ti)0.6-1.2%
Aluminium (Al)0.2% max
Manganese (Mn)1.0% max
Silicon (Si)0.5% max
Carbon (C)0.05% max
Sulfur (S)0.03% max

Why Incoloy 825 Alloy Composition Matters for Screws

Cr (19.5–23.5%) — Oxidation & Acid Resistance
Chromium ensures a passive oxide film, protecting Incoloy 825 screws from oxidizing acids and high-temperature scaling in process plant environments.
Mo (2.5–3.5%) & Cu (1.5–3.0%) — Reducing Acid Protection
Molybdenum and copper provide resistance to reducing acids such as sulfuric and phosphoric acid, making Incoloy 825 screws ideal for chemical and fertilizer plants.
Ti (0.6–1.2%) — Intergranular Corrosion Immunity
Titanium stabilizes the alloy against sensitization, ensuring Incoloy 825 screws remain immune to intergranular attack after welding or high-temperature exposure.
