Product Overview

Inconel 718 bolts are precipitation-hardened nickel-chromium-iron alloy fasteners machined from UNS N07718 bar stock conforming to ASTM B637. The alloy derives its exceptional strength from a dual precipitation hardening mechanism involving gamma-prime (Ni3Al) and gamma-double-prime (Ni3Nb) phases, delivering a minimum tensile strength of 1241 MPa in the aged condition – nearly double that of Inconel 625.

Inconel 718 bolts are the preferred fastener material for applications demanding high clamping force at elevated temperatures up to 700°C combined with resistance to stress corrosion cracking. They are specified under AMS 5662/5664, ASTM B637, and NACE MR0175 for gas turbine casings, aerospace structural joints, pressure vessel closures, and high-pressure wellhead equipment worldwide.

Inconel 718 Bolts Dimensions, Sizes & Thread Standards

Inconel 718 Bolts are available in metric M6–M100 and inch ¼″–4″ as standard. Inconel 718 Bolts are available in metric sizes M6 to M100 and inch sizes ¼″ to 4″ as standard. Custom lengths, thread pitches, and special configurations are manufactured to order.

Material Chemistry

Inconel 718 Chemical Composition

Inconel 718 Bolts are manufactured from a nickel-chromium superalloy containing nickel (72% min), chromium (14–17%), and iron (6–10%). Each element is precisely controlled per ASTM — nickel provides chloride SCC immunity, chromium drives high-temperature oxidation resistance, and iron balances structural stability and alloy cost.

Why Inconel 718 Alloy Composition Matters for Bolts

Nb+Ta (4.75–5.50%) — Precipitation Hardening via Gamma-Double-Prime
Niobium is the primary strengthening agent in Inconel 718. It forms the gamma-double-prime (?) phase (Ni3Nb) which is responsible for the alloy's exceptional room-temperature and elevated-temperature tensile strength of 1241 MPa min — making it the highest-strength nickel alloy fastener in common industrial use.
