SS 2205 (Duplex) screws are high-strength, corrosion-resistant fasteners manufactured from duplex stainless steel grade UNS S32205 (also known as 1.4462). This alloy features a balanced austenite-ferrite microstructure, delivering double the yield strength of standard austenitic stainless steels like 316L, while providing superior resistance to chloride-induced pitting and crevice corrosion.

SS 2205 screws are widely specified for critical bolted joints in marine, chemical, and oil & gas environments where both mechanical strength and corrosion resistance are essential. Nitrogen is the critical alloying element: it simultaneously raises PREN to ≥ 35 for chloride pitting resistance and strengthens the austenite phase to achieve 450 MPa minimum yield — twice that of SS 316L.
