SS 2205 (Duplex) bolts are high-strength, corrosion-resistant fasteners manufactured from duplex stainless steel grade UNS S32205/S31803, conforming to ASTM A182 or ASTM A479. The duplex microstructure, with approximately equal ferrite and austenite phases, provides a unique combination of 620 MPa minimum tensile strength and superior resistance to chloride-induced pitting and stress corrosion cracking.

With a PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) of 34-36, SS 2205 bolts outperform 316L in seawater, brine, and aggressive chemical environments. Nitrogen is the critical alloying element: it simultaneously raises PREN to ≥ 35 for chloride pitting resistance and strengthens the austenite phase to achieve 450 MPa minimum yield — twice that of SS 316L.
